OUR HISTORY

Over 22 years ago, the Kvols initially founded, and currently own, Companion Habitats, Inc.®, a successful business venture founded on moral principles and commitment to customer service. This commitment continues to be the foundation of all business activities related to Versi-Panel Enclosures and Companion Habitats, Inc.®

Companion Habitats, Inc.® is considered the premier provider of commercial animal habitat enclosures, and their products can be seen throughout the world in pet stores, zoos, hotels, shelters and health- care facilities. Over the years, major pet retailers such as PetSmart® and PETCO® national zoos such as those located in Miami, Denver and San Diego, have designated Companion Habitats as a preferred supplier for their commercial animal enclosures.

Since its inception in 1986, Companion Habitats has won numerous awards for design innovation and has established itself as a market leader offering exceptional quality, unparalleled service and commitment to providing safe and nurturing environments for many types of animals, birds and reptiles.

Each company is unique in their prospective industries, mirroring one another in personal values and ingenuity. Both benefit from collective synergies and occasional joint projects.

OUR COMMITMENT

We are proud that all of our products are manufactured and supported from facilities located in Colorado Springs, CO, USA, and our materials are selected because of their appearance, strength, wear, and ability to be easily cleaned. We continuaously work with our vendors to purchase quality materials at the most competitive prices possible. We believe quality can first be detected visually, and we are confident that our products reflect this. All components are either fabricated or assembled on-site, which allows for strict monitoring and quality control. Finally, each product we produce undergoes a thorough multi-point quality check prior to being released for shipment.

We work closely with our customers to provide a customized, cost- saving system to maximize their transportation and storage efficiencies. No matter the size of the order, all of our customers receive the same level of commitment and support.

OUR PRODUCTION TEAM

Our facilities utilize Self-Directed Work Teams (SDWT), fostering strong employee relations and participation. All production, distribution, and material support personnel are given governance to direct and manage their work content and schedules – from the time an order is received, to the moment it is shipped. Our team members are offered financial incentives to meet and exceed their objective performance benchmarks (quality, schedule completion, scrap, process improvements, material availability, accuracy, etc.). Since implementing our SDWT program, we have seen significant positive results, including:
Reduced labor costs, including overtime
Meeting our standard of 100% on-time shipment

Improving employee morale and measurably reducing personnel turnover

We produce our quality Versi-Panel Enclosures’ products in a 92,500 sq. ft. production facility. A great deal of effort has been put into customizing the facility to optimize productivity for both companies, and to support each of their ever-growing customer needs.

In the past several years, we have invested capital and boundless time to expand and upgrade engineering and manufacturing capabilities to benefit both operations. With these additional resources, capacity has been enhanced to successfully produce and ship quality products at competitive prices.
